Empowering students to reach their full potential

Education through the Arts

Recently, our focus was on programs promoting Education through the Arts. These programs exposed students to a variety of creative expressions through the performance and interaction of professional groups involving theater, dance, sound technology, music and visual or tactual arts. The overall effort integrates the arts throughout the classes, such as, how math and music are related, or history and social studies, or science and music/dance styles from other periods or cultures.

Most important, the Foundation has financially supported the construction of a two-room music studio that includes a live recording room and a master control room as well as top-of-the-line equipment that is accessible for students who are blind or visually impaired. Students have the opportunity to learn about sound engineering and music production. The program is designed to help prepare students who are interested in music long after they leave MSAB and potentially prepare them for an occupation in sound recording or performing.
